The Mount Aventine Manor House will be closed for visitors until further notice because of concerns over the safety of visitors and volunteers due to the COVID 19 virus.  Programs scheduled for April and May, including the Spring Tea, will be re-scheduled and new dates posted on the web site as soon as conditions are more clear. In the meantime, enjoy this beautiful park.  Thank you for your consideration.

Dear Friends,

Join us for the 2019 Annual Meeting of the Friends of Chapman State Park Sunday, April 14 at Mount Aventine.  The meeting will begin at 1:00 PM.  We look forward to sharing with you what was accomplished in 2018 and plans and programs for this park season.   All are welcome.

The agenda for the meeting includes:

  • Business Meeting, review of 2019 programs and plans;
  • Discussion of Old Growth Forests and Important Bird Areas (IBA) with Elizabeth Lynne Wheeler, President Southern Maryland Audubon Society;
  • Refreshments

You will want to take time to peruse the exhibit on “The Early People of the Chesapeake” installed in the Visitor’s Center.

The spring wild flowers including the “Virginia Blue Bells” are in bloom, so bring your hiking boots and enjoy the trails.

Take this opportunity to become a member or renew at the meeting or on line.
