The Mount Aventine Manor House will be closed for visitors until at least the end of April because of concerns over the safety of visitors and volunteers due to the COVID 19 virus.  Programs scheduled for April and May, including the Spring Tea, will be re-scheduled and new dates posted on the web site as soon as conditions are more clear. In the meantime, enjoy this beautiful park.  Thank you for your consideration.

Picknicking Areas

1562328 origThere are good sites at Chapman State Park for spreading a blanket for a picnic on the hillside in front of the manor house and also in the front field or along the shore.  Visitors are reminded to remove refuse from the park and remember the Maryland Park Service motto,  "leave no trace."

Leave No Trace also is a national and international program designed to assist outdoor enthusiasts with their decisions about how to reduce their impacts when they hike, camp, picnic, snowshoe, run, bike, hunt, paddle, ride horses, fish, ski or climb. The program strives to educate all those who enjoy the outdoors about the nature of their recreational impacts as well as techniques to prevent and minimize such impacts.
