2016 Call For members

Dear Friends,
The Friends of Chapman State Park is dedicated to making the park and Mount Aventine a valued resource for our community. We hope you will add your support to this effort by becoming a member and a volunteer in 2016.
312d3d1b108f9444aade76de2de58770A "Summer Music Fest," launched last summer, brought Sunday afternoon programs to Mount Aventine’s porch. This series, supported by a Charles County Arts Alliance grant and member donations, will be repeated this season.
The annual May Tea and the Antebellum Christmas event continue to delight new and returning visitors. Friends’ dedicated and talented volunteers hosted school groups, opened Mount Aventine for tours each Sunday afternoon, staffed the house for rental uses, and performed a myriad of maintenance activities on the house and park grounds.
A comprehensive study of the west wing, the oldest part of the manor house, was conducted, and the second floor of this area was restored based on the historic architect’s recommendations. Repair and restoration of the first floor kitchen area in this wing is the major project planned for 2016. Funding for this and other work on Mount Aventine came from a grant from the Maryland Heritage Areas Authority, member donations and fund raising. Our complete program for 2016 will be posted on our website.
Your support is needed to continue and accelerate this progress. An application form follows for your use, or you can join on the website www.friendsofchapmansp.org using PayPal. Consider becoming a member and a volunteer. Your support is needed!
Come join the fun!
